Imagine Families, We wanted to reach out to you all in an effort to stay connected. We do not have an updated timeline to share with you all, other than to reiterate we need water service in order to safely open school. We want to send our love to all of you. We understand that many of you are facing devastating circumstances, some have chosen to evacuate until water and power are restored and many others are out helping those they can each day. As a native of Asheville, I have always known the resiliency of this community. We want to assure you that we will be here and ready to open school as soon as we are able. We know from past experience that getting schools open is a crucial step in the recovery process. At this time, we are working through accounting for all of our students. We are using the responses to the Imagine Helene Family Update Form and are starting to make phone calls to those we have not heard from yet. If you have information about any of our families, please give us those updates by using the form. We are anxious to account for everyone and know that all 1,249 of our students are safe and accounted for. As part of this process we will be working to help connect families with the resources they need during this difficult time. Updates from the Finance Office We are planning to refund payments for all October lunch orders and payments for canceled field trips. We are hopeful that this is helpful to your family in some small way. It is our goal to have everything that needs to be refunded to families returned by the end of the day on 10/15. Canceled October field trips include: 3rd Grade- 10/11 Appalachian Learning Center 4th grade- 10/11 Diana Wortham Kindergarten- 10/14 Apple Orchard 2nd Grade- 10/22 Arboretum Until we can get back to school, ASCEND will not be operating. Accordingly, no one has been charged ASCEND fees for October and will not be charged until the program can resume. We will update ASCEND families as we have more information about ASCEND resuming. Imagine Families, We know the last few days have been devastating and that you all are busy with recovery for yourselves and your homes. We wish with all of our hearts that we were sending an email about a great first day back from Fall Break instead of working to ensure you all are safe. We are providing an update based on the information we currently have. Staff update We are happy to report we have accounted for all faculty and they are safe. Accounting for families We are anxious to account for our families. We know this will be difficult due to connectivity issues. If you are able, please fill out this simple form (available in email and on website) to let us know if your family is safe. If you know another family is safe, please feel free to complete the form on their behalf. Contact with NCDPI DPI made contact with local Charters today. They are in the beginning stages of understanding our situation and offering support. Contact with Local Officials We have reached out to the local government officials, but have not had anyone reach out to us yet. Reality of school opening At this time we do not have a timeline for reopening school. We are without water and power at the building at this time. As we begin to get support, answers and secure the infrastructure necessary to open, we will communicate timelines. We will give you ample notice before the opening of school. IC Imagine will be closed for the entire week: Monday, September 30- Friday, October 4th. We hope you all continue to stay safe. As the emergency response in our community continues we will stay in touch about a timeline for safely reopening school.

Kingfisher Mentor Connections is a mentoring program at IC Imagine that fosters a supportive student environment. It pairs upper school students with middle school students and middle school students with lower school students to promote relationships across grades. Selected mentors will meet with their mentees four times a week to provide support and build camaraderie. #icikingfishers #icimaginek12 #icimaginepubliccharterschool
