Upper School Families,
It’s been great to have students back in the building after the snow days—our halls are buzzing again with energy, conversations, and focused learning.
Please help us congratulate our Boys Basketball team on an incredible accomplishment as undefeated regular season champions—we’re so proud of their hard work and teamwork!
We are also excited to welcome a new member to our Upper School support team.
Hello! My name is Flora Devonport, but you can call me Ms. Flora. I am stepping in as the Upper School counselor for 11th and 12th-grade students through the end of the school year. I’m excited to get to know our students and support them as they plan for life after graduation. I enjoy sports, nature, cats, and music, and I’m currently finishing my master’s degree in school counseling while coaching lacrosse at Asheville High School. I’m thrilled to be part of the IC Imagine community!
As we look ahead, enrollment season is approaching. In February, families will receive an email with instructions for completing the Intent to Return form for each current student. This helps us plan staffing, schedules, and course offerings for next year. Upper School registration will begin the week of February 16, and the 2025–26 course catalog will be shared as soon as it is finalized.
We are proud to recognize our students selected for the 2026 All District Bands, a significant honor celebrating their musical talent and dedication:
Senior High Ensemble: Julian Kasalu
High School Ensemble: Warren McElreath
Middle School Symphonic Band: Shiv Patel
Middle School Concert Band: Avett Humes, Merrett McElreath, Rebecca Owings, Henry Bond
These students will rehearse and perform with musicians from across Western North Carolina on February 6–7 at Western Carolina University. Congratulations to all!
Junior families, please mark your calendars. The ACT will be administered on campus on March 6. All other grade levels will participate in a virtual learning day. In the coming weeks, juniors will meet one-on-one with Mr. Shaughnessy to receive a personalized ACT study plan, and an ACT Boot Camp will be offered from February 23 through March 5. More details will be shared soon via email, and students will bring home additional information.
Sophomore families should be on the lookout for Pre-ACT results, which students received today in advisory. The results packet explains how to interpret scores and provides guidance on areas to review in preparation for next year’s ACT.
Seniors, please remember that Monday, February 9, is Senior Picture Day. The senior class photo will be taken during Advisory and cannot be delayed. Lifetouch will also be on campus for cap and gown photos, with all materials provided. Seniors will then visit Mr. Barton’s art room for black-and-white candid photos before returning to class.
Finally, Eat at Chipotle on Tuesday, February 3, from 4:00–8:00 PM at the Chipotle on Brevard Road. It’s a great way to support our Middle School.
Have a great weekend!
