Lower School Families

We are proud to announce that our Lower School Teacher of the Year is Stephanie White. She was nominated by her peers and will be interviewed in the coming weeks for the opportunity to be named the overall Teacher of the Year. Congratulations, Ms. White!

Saturday is Free Comic Book Day! Stop by Morgan’s Comics in West Asheville between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM to see Mr. Jackson and join the fun. Comic shops nationwide will be giving away free comics for all ages. Be sure to grab a special reprint of Kingfisher Kid and check out original work from IC Imagine student creators. The first 50 IC Imagine visitors will receive a Kingfisher Kid comic, so arrive early!

Next week offers several great opportunities to get involved in our school community!

Field Day will be here before we know it! Please mark your calendars for Friday, 5/22, if you are interested in volunteering! There will be opportunities to help provide items, help set up beforehand, and many volunteer slots the day of. We will share volunteer opportunities soon!

Our spring musical, The Little Mermaid, will be performed May 14–16. Tickets range from $5–$20, and the show is perfect for all ages, so we hope you will come out and support our talented students. As we prepare for the musical, we are currently seeking a few theater items, including scaffolding (six total, approximately 15–20 feet high), curtains for stage wings and a main bi-parting curtain, and an optional projector that is quiet and capable of front or back projection. Email Bryan Campbell if you can help.

Finally, we have a couple of fundraisers underway.  Thank you for your continued support of our students and programs!

  • Upper School Imagineers:  Purchase wildflower seed packs for $2/ each.  On sale April 28 through May 6. Place orders through Infinite Campus, with delivery to classrooms on May 8—just in time for Mother’s Day!

  • Kingfisher Cheer:  Purchase a Zips Car Wash to help fund their journey to Regionals next fall, covering competition fees, travel, and new pom poms.

As we look ahead, we’re already preparing for the next school year. As we begin creating class rosters for students entering 1st–5th grade, we’d love to hear from you. Please complete the Getting to Know Your Kingfisher” form and share any insights that will help us support your child’s success.

Have a great weekend,

Jamie Williams, Ellen Girardi & Penny Caldwell
