Upper School Families,
Last week, a group of our students participated in an overnight trip with Outward Bound. Outward Bound helps young people cultivate a passion for learning and discover greater success in school, work, and life — and our Kingfishers truly rose to the challenge!
We also have great news from our athletes! At the district meet, Jude Wall placed 1st, Jensen Riddle placed 2nd, and the boys cross country team won overall! On the girls’ side, Lucy Ski placed 1st, leading the girls team to an overall victory as well. Please join us in wishing all our runners the best of luck as they compete at the state meet today! The volleyball season came to an end on Tuesday night, and we couldn’t be prouder of our players and coaches for their incredible effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the season. Congratulations on an amazing season!
Next Wednesday, October 22, we’ll celebrate Unity Day! Be sure to wear orange to show your support for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion — and to remind everyone that no child should ever experience bullying.
We’re also excited to announce our upcoming IC Imagine Kingfisher Theatre production of Macbeth! Show dates are October 30 at 6:00 p.m., October 31 at 6:00 p.m., and November 1 at 1:00 p.m. [Get your tickets here]. Content Warning: Macbeth features stage violence and some frightening scenes that may not be suitable for viewers under the age of 13.
A reminder for families: On Thursday, November 7th, sophomores will take the Pre-ACT, and juniors will take a mandatory practice ACT on campus. Freshmen and seniors will remain off campus but will have an assignment posted in Infinite Campus to complete for attendance credit.
Looking ahead, ski season is right around the corner! Cataloochee Ski Area is once again offering discounted season passes for IC Imagine families. The deadline to sign up is October 24. [Learn more]
We’re also excited to share that Somethings has partnered with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) to provide free mental health services to any teen across the state. [Learn more]
Warmly,
Upper School Principals
