Lower School Families,

We are looking forward to another week of learning before Fall Break begins. Progress reports went home today, so please check your child’s folder. Teachers are also beginning to schedule conferences, which provide a valuable chance to discuss progress and goals for the year. If you don’t hear from your child’s teacher about these soon- connect with them!

Fall Break will take place September 22nd–26th, with a Teacher Workday on Monday, September 29th. After the break, parents in grades 3–5 are invited to participate in Bring Your Parents to PE Week, and a sign-up link will be shared soon. Save the date for Math Night, see flyer below. We’ll also be celebrating our first Spirit Week (October 6-10th) of the year with the following themes:

  • Monday: PJ Day

  • Tuesday: Sports Day

  • Wednesday: Surfer vs. Cowboy

  • Thursday: Dress Like a Teacher

  • Friday: Spirit Day

imageThis week in Lower School PE, students had the chance to learn the fundamentals of lacrosse with Asheville Empire Lacrosse. Their leadership team shared the basics of this growing sport and created a fun, engaging experience for our students. Please see the message below from Executive Director, Sean Humphreys:

Hello IC Imagine Parents! My name is Sean Humphreys, and I am the Executive Director of the Asheville Empire Lacrosse Club. We spent this week in your school teaching the basics of lacrosse in PE Class. It was a blast hanging out with your children and sharing our passion for this great sport. Our organization offers different opportunities to play lacrosse in the Asheville area for boys and girls of all ages, whether it is through clinics, camps or competitive teams. Most of what we do caters to those just getting started in the game since we are in a part of the country where lacrosse is still growing. Our mission is to continue that growth through these partnerships with schools and by what we offer to the local community. If you have any interest in learning more about lacrosse or getting signed up for our next available program, please feel free to reach out to me directly or check out our website for information on our current programming. Thank you for your consideration, and we hope to see you on the lacrosse field with us!

Finally, we’d like to remind families about the Wait Until 8th pledge, which many IC Imagine parents joined last spring. This initiative encourages delaying smartphones until after 8th grade, helping kids build healthier digital habits. Our parent group stays connected through shared resources, family meet-ups, and workshops. Whether you’re ready to take the pledge or just want to learn more, you are welcome to join this supportive network of families. To get connected, email taliakirschner@gmail.com.

Have a great weekend,

Jamie Williams & Ellen Girardi
