Middle School Virtual Learning
Family Orientation Video
If you are unable to attend one of the Middle School Virtual Orientations, please watch the videos below about Virtual Learning and how to find more information this school year.
Middle School Families,
Our IC Imagine Collegiate Leaders have been working hard this week to prepare the best possible virtual learning experience for our Champions. They have been planning, collaborating, and participating in professional development and we are excited about our improved plans for virtual learning.
The First Two Weeks
The first two weeks of school will be focused on connection with our students and families, as well as training our students on systems and procedures to set them up for success. All sessions on Monday through Thursday for the first two weeks will be live synchronous lessons to ensure our students and teachers get to know each other. Please make arrangements to have your child ready to engage in these lessons. You will have the opportunity to let us know if you can not meet this expectation through a survey and communication from your Homeroom Teacher.
General Daily Virtual Learning Expectations and Daily Attendance
I want to take a moment to reemphasize the importance of attendance and engagement for the first 20 days of school. Our funding is directly tied to attendance, and drives our ability to properly staff and provide resources for teaching and learning. You will receive an email from your child’s Homeroom Teacher on Tuesday (8/11) with a Zoom link to their daily 9:00am Homeroom meeting. This email will also include a survey for you to complete to help us get to know your situation and ability to engage in synchronous activities. Attendance procedures are highlighted below.
Attendance will be taken everyday in their Homeroom Morning Meeting. Students will complete a google form along with teachers entering the daily attendance into PowerSchool. If your Champion can not attend the Homeroom Morning Meeting, it is imperative that they complete the Google form on their own. Student’s will have a link shared with them via email and their Homeroom Google Classroom. Morning Meetings will be engaging, informative, and focused on social-emotional learning. Check out this teaser video with your student as you start to get excited for the school year!
Students in Middle School will participate in both synchronous and asynchronous lessons. After the first two weeks, Monday and Tuesday will consist of live synchronous classes, with the opportunity for students to connect with their teacher and classmates. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday’s lessons will be asynchronous. There will be some exceptions to this for students enrolled in EC courses, receiving additional support, or in some fine arts classes. Any synchronous opportunities on these days will be communicated well in advance. Please see the Middle School Virtual Learning Family Handbook here for more information regarding the middle school virtual learning experience.
Supply Lists
In order to be as successful as possible in the Virtual Learning environment, we recommend that you have the supplies on the supply lists found here on hand for your Middle School student. Please note, there is no expectation that you purchase new supplies for Virtual Learning if your student already has access to these materials at home. If you have any questions, please contact your student’s collegiate leader or Mr. Bell (ryanbell@icimagine.org). If you are in need of support securing any of the supplies listed for your student’s grade level, please contact Mr. Mitchell (jessemitchell@icimagine.org).
Family Orientations and New Student Meet and Greet
Virtual Orientation session schedules are below for your designated areas of school. Families only need to attend one session, and recordings will be shared for those who are unable to attend. You will hear from Administration, counselors, and teachers regarding our virtual learning, attendance, feedback and grading, and connecting with teachers on the first day of school.
New students to IC Imagine will have the opportunity to participate in a fun activity designed to connect them with some of our middle school staff and other new students. New families will receive an email with more details next week.
If you did not receive a Chromebook or student schedule this week, please email Mr. Ryan Bell (ryanbell@icimagine.org) to set up a time to get the materials your Champion needs to be successful on day one.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
