Arrival And Dismissal Beginning October 26, 2020

Arrival

During arrival each day, students will have their temperatures taken at your car door and you will answer symptom screening questions in the carline.  Any temperature over 100.4 degrees or flagged responses to the screening questions will initiate a process by which we will re-check the individual’s temperature and re-evaluate coronavirus symptoms in coordination with Blue Ridge Health.  Please do not leave the arrival line until the symptom screening and temperature check have been completed and your student is cleared to enter the building. 

Our arrival line for Middle and Upper School students will open at 7:50am and close at 8:15am. Middle and Upper students will be counted tardy at 8:20am.  Our arrival line for Lower School Students will open at 8:30am and close at 8:55am. Lower School students will be counted tardy at 9:00am.  Families with students in both Lower and Middle/Upper Schools (purple tags) have two options: you may drop your Lower School children off with your Middle and Upper School students from 8:00- 8:15am OR you may drop your Middle/Upper School students off and then re-enter the line to drop off your Lower School student. If you choose to drop your Lower School students off early, your Lower School students will sit at the picnic tables outside until the Lower School door opens. 

Please note that due to the required temperature and symptom screening that must be completed for every student every day, you will NOT be allowed to park in the parking lot and walk your student to the crosswalk for arrival.  You will not be permitted to take a left turn into the bus lot as that space will be utilized for additional health checks as necessary. All cars MUST travel through the arrival loop in order to drop off students for screening and entry to the building.

In order to reduce the amount of traffic through one entrance to the building, all Middle School students will be walking down the east side of the building and entering the Middle School floor via the doors on the turf unless they have a band instrument that needs to be dropped off in the band room.  

Please note the following when you arrive and leave our campus:

  1. The outgoing left turn lane is utilized for incoming traffic.  All traffic must turn right when leaving the ICI campus during arrival.
  2. Traffic will no longer be managed by IC Imagine staff on McIntosh Road. Traffic will turn onto our campus via double turn lanes, and merge on our campus. (It is imperative you utilize turn signals when entering our campus.)

* While in the arrival or dismissal line, please be fully engaged and refrain from using cell phones.

* It is imperative that you always follow staff member directives during arrival and dismissal to ensure everyone’s safety.

* In order to avoid further traffic congestion, please continue to Pond Road after turning right out of our campus.  Do not make a U-turn and re-enter traffic on McIntosh Road.

School Entrance 

All traffic must enter and exit using the West entrance behind the school building.  The East entrance is for emergency vehicles only and the gate will be locked at all times.

Zipper-Merge Zone – Arrival only 

All incoming traffic will merge using the two dedicated lanes. IC Imagine staff will direct traffic to merge appropriately.

Tardy students

If you arrive after the arrival lane has completely closed, you must park in a visitor’s spot in the parking lot and call the front office of the school (828-633-6491).  A school staff member will come to your car to complete the required COVID-19 screening.   Please do not allow your student(s) to leave the car until the symptom screening and temperature check have been completed and they are cleared to enter the building.

Visiting the School Building

Due to the on-going concerns with COVID-19, you will not be able to enter the school at this time. Please follow these protocols if you need something:

  • If you need to drop your child off after 8:00am or pick them up before 12:00pm, please park in a visitor’s spot in the parking lot and call 828-633-6491 (the main line for the school).  A staff member will get your child from class and escort them to your vehicle.
  • If you have urgent communication for the school, please call 828-633-6491 and the front desk staff will get your message to the appropriate people.
  • If your child will be absent, please email their teacher and attendance@icimagine.org

Dismissal

All children must be picked up following the dismissal procedure that applies to your family. You will not be able to walk in to pick up children after their dismissal has already begun.

** Please note: Sign-outs for early pick-ups will end each day at 1:30pm for Lower School Champions (K-5). Sign-outs for early pick-ups will end each day at 2:30pm for Middle and Upper School Champions (6-12th). **


General Dismissal Guidelines

  • Use your turn signal at the entrance to the school.
  • Your car tag should be visible to staff from a long distance.
  • Your car tag should be displayed from the time you enter campus until after your child is in your car. 
  • Please keep all gaps between cars closed!
  • Our campus is tobacco/vape free.  Do not use these substances/items in the car line.
  • Please adhere to the dismissal windows for your car tag color.  These are below.
  • Please do not form a line on our campus prior to car line opening. This creates a chaotic and unsafe situation for our school.  If you arrive early, you will be asked to leave.
  • Lower School ONLY (Yellow and Blue tags) dismissal ends at 2:30pm.  Please be in line prior to 2:30.  
  • Middle and Upper School students are in class until 2:40pm. Purple and Green tags will not be permitted to enter the line early.  This creates a chaotic and unsafe situation for our school.  If you arrive early, you will be asked to leave.
  • The Middle and Upper School Dismissal line will be closed at 3:15pm.  If you arrive after 3:15, please park and walk up to pick up your child.
  • The bus parking lot is off limits during dismissal. No one may utilize the bus parking lot to pick up students. It will be ONLY used for bus and van pick ups.
  • If you arrive to pick up your child after the dismissal line has closed, you should enter the parking lot, park in a visitor’s space and walk up to the crosswalk to pick up your child.

Dismissal lines for Kindergarten Students (blue tags) begin at 1:45// Cars may not enter the line before 1:40

Dismissal lines for K-5 Students (yellow tags) begin at 2:00// Cars may not enter the line before 1:40

Dismissal for any combination of Lower, Middle, and Upper School Students (purple tags) begins at 2:40 // Cars may not enter the line before 2:30

Dismissal for only Middle and Upper School Students (green tags) begins at 2:45//Cars may not enter the line before 2:30

If you are picking up ONLY Kindergarten Champions 

Dismissal begins at  1:45

If you are picking up ONLY Champions in Lower School

 (a combination of students in grades K-5)

Dismissal begins at 2:00 

If you are picking up a COMBINATION of Lower, Middle, Upper Students

Dismissal begins at 2:40

If you are picking up ONLY Champions in Middle or Upper School 

Dismissal begins at  2:45

You will receive a blue car tag.  The line for this color car tag will open at 1:40.  Dismissal for these students will begin at 1:45 in the far right lane #3.

* If you enter the line prior to 1:40, you will be directed back around the school and have to enter the line again.

* This dismissal ends at 2:30, you must be in line before that time.

You will receive a yellow car tag.  The line for this color car tag opens at 1:40.  Dismissal for these students will begin at 2:00 in the two left lanes (numbers 1 and 2). 

 

* If you enter the line prior to 1:40, you will be directed back around the school and have to enter the line again.

* This dismissal ends at 2:30, you must be in line before that time.

You will receive a purple car tag.  The line for this color car tag opens at 2:30.  Dismissal for these students will begin at 2:40 in the far right lane #3.

* If you enter the line prior to 2:30, you will be directed back around the school and have to enter the line again.

* This dismissal ends at 3:05, you must be in line before that time.

You will receive a green car tag. The line for this color car tag opens at 2:30. Dismissal for these students will begin at 2:45 in the two left lanes (numbers 1 and 2).

 

* If you enter the line prior to 2:30, you will be directed back around the school and have to enter the line again.

* This dismissal ends at 3:05, you must be in line before that time.

Carpool Tags

If you need a carpool tag (you are planning to pick up students from another family or have your students be picked up by another family), one member of your carpool group will need to fill out the Carpool Agreement Form.  Upon receipt of the Agreement form, all parents in the carpool will be emailed for confirmation of participation. Once confirmed, you will be notified that your carpool tag is ready for pick up
