At IC Imagine Charter School we use an integrated, multi-sensory approach to the North Carolina Common Core and Essential Standards as well as the Core Knowledge Sequence. We create opportunities for Champions to develop their full potential while keeping the whole child in mind. We strive to create an environment where all children feel challenged, supported and nurtured. Our goal is to instill a love of learning and develop individual problem solvers, who have the ability to collaborate within a 21st-century learning environment. Throughout IC Imagine, your child will be engaged, feel valued and encouraged to be a leader.
IC Imagine Champions are engaged with hands-on learning opportunities throughout the day. Collegiate Leaders create opportunities for Champions to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. Collegiate Leaders strive to engage all types of learners by employing a multi-sensory approach. In addition to the core academic areas, Lower School Champions participate in Spanish, music, visual arts, physical education and recess throughout their day. Middle School Champions participate in Spanish and physical education daily along with choosing one fine arts course on which to focus. Upper School Champions are offered a variety of honors and advanced placement courses along with Spanish, fine arts and healthy living.
At IC Imagine, children are valued and taught to value others. Through our whole child focus, we stay in tune with each child’s social emotional development. Champions are taught to value themselves as members of the IC Imagine community. Children have opportunities to develop relationships and build character through grade level morning meetings in Lower School or weekly community meetings in Middle and Upper School. Additionally, Champions learn to value our local community through year round service learning projects.
Be a Leader:
IC Imagine uses common language from Dr. Sean Covey’s work with The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People to encourage the development of leadership skills. IC Imagine promotes three essential Champion expectations in all classroom and non-classroom settings: Engage, Value and Be a Leader. Each classroom follows a discipline plan that teaches Champions the school-wide expectations and incorporates Champion incentives. By promoting these core values together in the home, at school, and within our community we support the shared responsibility of developing good citizens.
We had 40 parents in attendance at our most recent Coffee with Leadership which included a permanent campus update from Jenn Townley, Head of School and Mia Strauss, Valerie Phillips and Lorraine Carver, IC Imagine, Inc. Board members.

The Lower School Open House that was scheduled for tonight will be cancelled due to IC Imagine being closed today. We are sorry to miss this opportunity to show off all that our Champions have been working on, but are happy to say we will have another opportunity to showcase their work, as well as play some fun math games with you in October.
Open House will now be part of Math Night! Math Night is scheduled for Wednesday, October 18th. K-2 families should plan to attend from 5:30 – 6:30 and 3-5 families should plan to attend from 6:30 – 7:30. Grade levels will share work samples and math activities at that time.
We know you are anxious to talk to your children’s teachers and see their work, so please keep in mind that Fall Conferences are currently happening and, as always, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions you may have.
For third grade families that were invited to RTA night, this will be rescheduled to Monday 9/16 at 6:00 PM.
Calling all runners and walkers!! Come join us at Carrier Park on Saturday, September 2 for our second annual Fine Arts 5K and Fun Run sponsored by Morton Insurance Agency!
The route will be through Carrier Park and will feature performances by our very own IC Imagine band students. This year we are also offering a 1 mile Fun Run as well! All participants will have the opportunity to tie-dye their race t-shirts after they cross the finish line.
All levels of runners and walkers are welcome to participate! Awards will be given to the top male and female finishers, as well as the top finishers in each age group for the 5k.
Early registration before August 19 for the 5k is $25.00, and $10.00 for the fun run, and you will be guaranteed a t-shirt. Online registration will still be available for the 5k from August 20-August 30 for $30.00 but you will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.
REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE ON RACE DAY! If you have not yet registered you can still run! Race day registration will open at 8:00 AM at Carrier Park (500 Amboy Road, Asheville, NC, 28806). Please note that the cost will be $35.00 and you will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.All proceeds from the race will benefit the Fine Arts Departments of IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville, NC.
After consulting with the North Carolina and South Carolina Emergency Management Services, as well as with the State Highway Patrol and Clemson University, we have decided to close school on Monday, August 21st.
Though school will not be in session the day of the eclipse, IC Imagine is embracing this learning opportunity and science phenomenon with great excitement in the classroom! On Friday, August 18th our school will celebrate Eclipse Day. Teachers are developing activities that focus on the science of the eclipse.
Next week, we will be selling eclipse glasses for $1 at a table by the main door during arrival, or your child can bring $1 to their Collegiate Leader to receive a pair. All money that is raised will be put toward the science program at our school.
We are also cancelling the field trip to Clemson University that was scheduled for grades 5-12. Travel is expected to be very difficult and safety is our number one priority as we make this decision. Anyone who has paid for this trip will receive a credit.

Important Announcement Regarding our New Upper School Satellite Campus
We are working diligently in partnership with Novus Architects, Beverly Grant, Land of Sky UCC and the City of Asheville to ensure our satellite location, IC Imagine East Campus, has everything our Champions and Collegiate Leaders need to have a successful year. Unfortunately, it looks like they will need a few more weeks to get it just right. All construction projects, large and small, require many entities to come together in order to run smoothly. Our progress is currently being stalled by the City of Asheville’s permitting process, and we are working hard to get this resolved. The permitting office is dealing with numerous project approval requests. We began the approval process almost two months ago and continue to await their final approval.
In the meantime, we will be starting school in a temporary location at Montreat College’s Graduate Study Campus located at 29 Turtle Creek Dr. Asheville, NC 28803. The building has classroom space that can be leased on a short-term basis. This facility hosted another local charter school while they waited for their construction to be complete. We are confident that our unique educational needs can be met within this setting. Although there are a few Homeschool Groups who meet at this campus throughout the week, there will be no Montreat College students taking courses during our school hours, as they occupy the building for evening classes. The Homeschool groups meet in designated classrooms within the building away from the classrooms where we will be meeting. There will, however, be Montreat College employees using their office spaces during the school day.
The spacious classrooms will offer great benefits for establishing a productive learning environments and also for building community with our new Champions. The building is equipped with sufficient wi-fi and technology that is similar to what we are accustomed to using within the classroom. We are thankful for the opportunity to work with Montreat College and share their space while we wait for construction to be completed at Imagine East Campus.
We are dedicated to communicating with you bi-weekly regarding the progress and move-in date until we get there!
In order to give you a glimpse of the space, our Open House events will take place at the Sout Asheville Montreat College location. We will be having short drop-in sessions on Monday 8/7. Rising 9th graders will come in from 8-10 am for some information that is unique to their grade levels. Grades 10-12 will attend a drop-in session from 2-4 pm. If you are unable to attend during your scheduled time, please attend the session that best fits your needs but know that the freshmen group will be doing activities while the 10-12 graders will only be picking up schedules and checking in with teachers. We encourage all 9th graders to attend their session if at all possible.
As soon as our Satellite Campus is ready, we will hold a second event there so everyone can be comfortable with the space!
